Nurses' Viewpoints on Misbehavior in Clinics in Teaching Hospitals of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: Uncivil behaviors in work environments are a serious threat, lead to shame, and endanger the health of nurses and patients. The aim of this study was study the uncivil behaviors in therapeutic settings from nurses' viewpoint in educational hospitals of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences. Material and methods:  This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 219 nurses from educational hospitals affiliated to Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences in 2018. Data were collected through a questionnaire of demographic information and standard questionnaire of Guidroz uncivil nursing behaviors by quota method and then random Sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20 using descriptive statistics and chi square test. Results: The findings of this study showed that mean score of uncivil behaviors from nurse's perspective was 14.09±24.10. Most uncivil behavior in nurses interacts with physicians (17.70±5.38) and the lowest in nurses interacting with other nurses (36.17±6.67) was observed. Conclusion: Although the mean of nursing’s viewpoint about uncivil behavior was not significant in this study. However, due to the destructive effects of such behaviors in clinical settings, adopting strategies to improve the care provided in the clinic and the job satisfaction of nursing staff is essential.
